Our Work
Here are some brief examples of projects we've completed, and how they've benefited libraries.
Community Surveys
- How can the library gain support for a building referendum?: Designed and analyzed a telephone survey to assess overall satisfaction with the library, new services desired and the community's willingness to support a tax increase to fund expanded facilities. Determined which population segments would most likely support a referendum. Provided detailed recommendations on how to garner that support. Library implemented recommendations, and referendum passed.
- How can the library better market itself and attract infrequent users?: Developed a mail survey for a rural area to understand how the community uses the library and why it hasn't historically supported the library. Recomend marketing strategies to enhance community perceptions and increase library usage. Library used the learning to create a communications program and voters approved the referendum to increase its operating levy.
Focus Groups
- How can the library better plan for and attract the infrequent and frequent library user?: Led focus groups to investigate frequent and infrequent library users in key life stages: their views and use of the library, how the library can better attract them and their reactions to proposed service enhancements.
- What are the priorities for a long range plan?: Facilitated a series of sessions with community leaders, staff and Trustees to guide development of the library's mission statement and priorities for the long range plan.
- How can the library repair community relationships?: Conducted focus groups among library's users to understand causes of patron satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Created action plan to improve perceptions of the library in the community.
- What do preschool parents want?: Moderated focus groups and individual interviews with preschool parents to understand their perceptions of the Youth Services department and interest in new services. Provided recommendations for new children's programming and communication.
Patron Surveys
- What new services should the library offer? Developed an in-library survey to determine services used, satisfaction with the Library and interest in new services. Analyzed data to determine priorities for expanding the library's services.
We use a broad range of survey methodologies depending on the needs and budget of our clients.
